ripping is out of control for holiday season!

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 11, 2007, 4:13 PM

****WARNING: Foul language is very present in the following journal***********

....I hate art thieves. I hate them with everything in me. ESPECIALLY those who get all big in their theft. And to make it worse, it seems as though not enough people truly give a shit...excuse the language. It's fucking insanely ridiculous. hearing comments like "we'll why did you put it up, if you had a problem with me using it on photobucket".... well, lets see, CONSIDERING IM A FUCKING DIGITAL ARTIST, I KINDA HAVE TO DISPLAY IT DIGITALLY.  I cant display it in an art gallery, though if you steal art from a gallery you can go to fucking jail.

Im looking for you assholes who take advantage of the artists who work hard to make a name for themselves online, and can do very little about it. Im going to make it one of my lifetime goals to try to get laws passed to where sites HAVE to release info on people who rip work online. You thieves are lower than shit.

Aside from the image i just posted, there are a plethora of others im battling.

[link] i actually reported over 7 weeks ago, and flikr still has yet to remove it.

....to name a few.

MY WORK ISNT FOR YOUR USE. unless it is a stock resource, dont take it and post it anywhere, ever, without permission. im not kidding anymore, its not for your personal use. I dont give permission, and i will try my hardest to make sure you know im not happy.

...how is everything else everyone? have big plans for the upcoming seasons?

welcome to the club,
i have a similar issue, but thats on another page...

the first links show btw. that people can steal, but they have no keyboard!
the title and your name is still there, so i would see it as a credit, these people just like your work and want to share it, just assume that 20 percent of people who download your work from here do that, and only 10 percent note you about permission, thats life;-)

what you can do is(its very simple, but helpfull to track images) put a border in 10 pix height under your image and put your name, a copyright notice and stuff onto it, and people are often too lazy to cut off the border, and whoomp - if you made the border dA-color lookalike, then you know where your art is been found, and others see the notice(maybe even your link to homepage)
all images on my homepage are cropped and have such a border, i will soon do it with most pictures here on dA and elsewhere too.

das ist eine gute idee - für wallpapers allerdings ungeeignet, oder?

its worse if they call it their own... in a way, your getting more exposure.

 I'm sorry you have to go through all this drama just because you're an artist. Tis the price of talent and internet fame though.
At least some of the rippers DID credit you, rather than saying they did it... Doesn't make it right but it's better than the alternative.
Flickr and Photobucket need a "report image" button on images rather than having to go through all the tiny links and shit.

No one can genuinely profit from stealing digital art. It's a good way to guarantee they will have no future in the field themselves but, considering they have to take other people's work anyway, I don't guess they ever had any.

Don't worry so much about it. It says "by starfantazy" on 9/10 so really it gets you more publicity. Just keep the high-res for yourself.

TBH, im not sure anyone has used my work without my permission. But i don't exactly go out of my way to find out.

How did you first realize your shit was gettin' jacked? Just stumbled on it by accedent, someone told you, you searched for it on an image site, etc?

Take it easy, Amy. I wish I could help you feel a bit better but for some odd reason when I offered the rippers the opportunity to rip my masterpieces instead they actually declined!

????

Anyways, don't take it to heart so much, this is how you know you are very good at what you love to do: when others think it's worthy of copying and claiming for their own. It sucks that they might profit from it but that's the nature of the internet, no matter how much you fight them there's always another over your shoulder, there's no getting away from it. Don't let it eat you up. I'm not saying to you "don't fight it", just that you take it easy while you do it but if you don't win the fight, just let it go....
