ripping is out of control for holiday season!

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 11, 2007, 4:13 PM

****WARNING: Foul language is very present in the following journal***********

....I hate art thieves. I hate them with everything in me. ESPECIALLY those who get all big in their theft. And to make it worse, it seems as though not enough people truly give a shit...excuse the language. It's fucking insanely ridiculous. hearing comments like "we'll why did you put it up, if you had a problem with me using it on photobucket".... well, lets see, CONSIDERING IM A FUCKING DIGITAL ARTIST, I KINDA HAVE TO DISPLAY IT DIGITALLY.  I cant display it in an art gallery, though if you steal art from a gallery you can go to fucking jail.

Im looking for you assholes who take advantage of the artists who work hard to make a name for themselves online, and can do very little about it. Im going to make it one of my lifetime goals to try to get laws passed to where sites HAVE to release info on people who rip work online. You thieves are lower than shit.

Aside from the image i just posted, there are a plethora of others im battling.

[link] i actually reported over 7 weeks ago, and flikr still has yet to remove it.

....to name a few.

MY WORK ISNT FOR YOUR USE. unless it is a stock resource, dont take it and post it anywhere, ever, without permission. im not kidding anymore, its not for your personal use. I dont give permission, and i will try my hardest to make sure you know im not happy.

...how is everything else everyone? have big plans for the upcoming seasons?

It's ridiculous that you have to battle things out like this. I had someone try to rip and sell my work on eBay a few months ago. Unfortunately, this prompted me to have to watermark my crap, which I hate terribly. It is just amazing how people think that because it is on the internet, it is free for any type of use.

That totally sucks. I agree with you completely, although my art's never been good enough to be stolen, I still feel sorry for those that it happens to. <3
Even the big websites like ebaumsworld and shit sites like that are doing it so people think it's okay. I don't even take an image for my own wallpaper without letting the person who made it know.

I hope you sort out the current thefts and prevent further thefts in the future. <3

Frankly, I'm just surprised that they're still up. Did you go through the proper reporting process with each image? I've dealt with both flickr and photobucket about this issue, and the images were always down within 24 hours...

I agree with the sentiment, but unless someone's making money out of your work by selling prints, all they're really doing is paying you a compliment (albeit a backhanded one!). They can't steal your talent and they won't be able to match it with their own work (if they did any) so it's a hollow theft carried out by sad people.
Make sure the big versions have a watermark so no-one can profit from prints, and pity the empty thieves with no talent of their own.
Very nice work btw!

that's all very well... but don't you want as many people to be expose to your work as possible? I mean, if they credit you I don't really see the problem.

Although, if they claim it as their own, this is something completely different.

Personally, I find it flattering to see my work on a different website... anyways...

Honey..it's time for you find and/or pay for a REAL lawyer ( if you aint gots one already :bucktooth: ) ... and only use him when you need to ...
..a lawyer would send a bonefide cease and desist order to flicker.
...that includes flicker ( or the like ) in any damages owed...

Flickers agreement with there users does not absolve flicker of any wrong doing. ..so after a cease and desist ( which amounts to a legal threat ) ...flickr will be mighty damn quick about removal...

I dont know what a cheap lawyer from under the bridge downtown charges for C&D letters anymore...
There used to be a VLA associations ( Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts ) in Ohio and California ...who would work for you for free if your annual income was below a certain amount ...i dont know if they went to hell or expanded ...but it might be worth checking into ....

The only bitch is when it's on foreign servers that dont take a US legal threat seriously and could give a shit because they dont recognize US law as anything but an irritant

So translation software with lots of cusswords becomes your only tool ...lol

The hilarious thing is the dorks that steal it and then still give credit to the person they ripped :lmao:...
( :O_o: WHAT is wrong with people's brains ??? ...lol )

I would concentrate on the ones that try and pass it off as their own first ...consider the other ones ( that credit you ) as bad publicity agents that didnt cost you a dime till you can clean their clocks too.

Sigh... all the crap that is happening with art theft is exhausting. Artists shouldn't even have to concern themselves with art thieves, creating art should be the focus of their attention, not having to protect it. :(

Unbelievable!! They even still have the original name! :( Sorry about that. Some people just don't understand how much effort is being put in each artwork! I always make sure to credit the person (when possible) if I'm using someone else's artwork or stock.

I guess from now on just make sure you put watermark that links back to you, since even the host itself didn't even care for your request :angered: Keep reporting! Don't let them get away with it!

I still think, that sites who make profit of us should give the artists a better protection against illegal usage of our work!

We already had that issue, remember?
