*edit, so people arent EXACTLY GETTING WHY I MAKE A BIG FUSS OVER THIS.

Here's a thread to read in which someone went to photobucket and made stock packs by searching through it.

A post in one said "Arctic um no they were all from Pb so shut up, you act like images from dA are only found from dA.
And I wasn't paying attention, I was busy and it was 7 am in the morning I stayed up, and just dragged them to my stock pack folder so I take full blame.
Please don't punish Mel for this. =[

By the way, when I get home I will re-upload without the copyright ones and make it the same link so the link will be updated soon so you guys can still let other members DL the pack."

This can be found here: [link]

Two things first will help you avoid online theft.

1) Never put your image up in original resolution unless you want to get ripped off

2) Always watermark stuff you intend to sell

3) Never put up images you are selling to people you have contracts with, nor have sold to magazines or newspapers.*

4) Always embed with digital watermarks in cs3

*This is what will protect you the most.

I read that forum topic,I think that mel person should be banned for life, not only are there images from other sites, but some of the images I've seen are DA members and stock women I'm watching.

I get extremely annoyed at people who steal and dont credit...-_-

I wrote a song for this occasion...

:sing:...
Oh Mrs. Neal...
What do you feel?
When Mr. Neal...
Makes you squeal?
And Mrs. Neal..
That thief is scum ( strum strum )
Like Emma Peel
An Avenger
you should become...

Strum
STRUM !

Then you could
kick in his face
And also
that lower place

We'd be in awe..
You sacked that jerk
Then you could do
some new artwork

Well....it wont win any grammies :( ... but i havent written anything in a while.....
i thought Bobby could take the first 4 lines of the song and kinda sing it around the house ..or during post-coital relaxation in those "soft moments "
(it's ok if he plagiarizes me ;) ..he has my permission for this tune )

It's disturbing, really. Not to mention it pisses of the people whose art is being stolen.

In any case, this is theft. And should really be dealt with.

I know my pics won't get nicked. They're too crappy.

How exactly is that theft? Someone above said that "no one would collect that much stuff and not do anything with it". Well no law accuses a person based on simple assumption. So far the guy/girl made an album with his favorite images on deviantART, nothing more, nothing less. The images don't even belong to the same artist, not to mention "the collector" didn't claim them as his own. Nothing illegal here.

Honestly, this paranoia with "theft" is becoming annoying. After all, the best way to not have your pictures stolen is to NOT publish. When you publish you agree to certain risks. As long as people are not making illegal profit over your work, just let it be. There are more tragic things that can happen to you in life, other than having your photos collected on Photobucket.

Hey, I agree with you. I don't think it's stupidity either.

Honestly, I'm flattered if people want to share my work elsewhere, or use it w/ minor alteration in icons, or layouts. Though I feel it's disrespectful to me if they don't credit, and don't ask first. But I won't make a big deal about it.

I have a problem, if they claim it's their own work, make a profit off of my work, or like in this case, claim my work is stock.

I also feel people over react about "theft." To me it's far more important that people are seeing my work, and like it. Than people knowing I made it. And I have a understanding, that there is a large idiot userbase on the net. Saving an image on the net, is just a matter of a right click. And there are a lot of ignorant and apathetic people that don't understand, that just because they found it on the net, doesn't mean they can use it. And losing energy over every single idiot that goes, "wut a pretty pictur, i'm gunna put it on mah websight." Really isn't worth it in the long run.

Honestly, if you want 100% control over where your art goes, don't share it on the net. Especially don't share it on a large public database of over 56,000,000 images where just about anyone can see it, and save it to their computer, and share it elsewhere in a manner of seconds.

There are so many artists, that can't seem to grasp, that you can't control who sees it when you release it to the public. There is no "intelligent and respectful people only" filter. If you want compete control, keep the art to yourself. If you want partial control. Use a private blog, where you determine who can see it. But don't throw a fit when you release it to the public for free and some smuck, goes "cool" and takes a copy. That's my opinion.

Thank you! Glad to see someone who didn't get all hysterical and who actually got my point. I was starting to feel like an alien. :)

you're not alien. The relationship of a mother and child is very similar to the relationship of an artists with their art. Some mothers get very defensive, if anyone so much as tries to harm their perfect little angel. ;p

airforlife...that comment you just made "Honestly, this paranoia with "theft" is becoming annoying. After all, the best way to not have your pictures stolen is to NOT publish" I see that as stupidity,if your art was stolen would you just "let it be" or would you contact that person hmm?I think you'd have a VERY different opinion if your art was stolen just like other "people who get annoyed at others posting about theft"If someone is going to create a BEAUTIFUL work of art and have it stolen they have a damn right to just not "let it go" You need your priorities straight.

I agree wholeheartedly with starfantazy.
